I visit the MDW area often for work and decided to ditch the janky hotel gym and grab a day pass at Vaunt. $25 is fairly pricey for a day pass, but after seeing the facility the price felt more justifiable. Was greeted by friendly staff at the counter and given a quick tour by Lucas, who was happy to answer any questions. It is clear that they continually invest in the facility by maintaining & cleaning their equipment.
Will definitely train at Vaunt again the next time I am back in town.
I visited this gym on a guest pass a few weeks ago. The gym is definitely a hidden gem. Equipment appears new, members wiped down machines after use, facilities were clean, and there was plenty of room and equipment for everyone. The manager, Lucas, was super helpful in getting us set up for the day and even touched base with us when we left. I'd definitely come back to train here on our next trip back to Chicago.
I was in Chicago for work and got a day pass. Lucas was at the front desk, welcomed me and gave me a tour of the facility. Enjoyed my lift there - very clean, well-kept equipment and they had everything I needed. When I’m back in Chicago, I’ll make this my go to gym.
My fiancé and I became members at Vaunt Fitness in 2018. Since then, the price has almost doubled. When we received an email stating that the price is increasing by $20 per month again, we had questions. When we asked Sean (the owner) about the increase, he proceeded tell us that if we didn’t agree or see the value, then we are “no longer a good fit” and if we wanted to cancel our membership, “that was ok” with him. We didn’t even bring up canceling! I was taken aback because that is not how loyal customers of five years should be treated. Sean didn’t answer any questions we had. So we made the sad decision to cancel our membership that day but since the dues were already taken for the month of August, we were told that we can still workout there until the end of the month. Then yesterday, when we came in, we were greeted by the front desk staff and Sean happened to be standing with them. We scanned in as usual and when he said hello we didn’t acknowledge him because of the way he treated us during our last interaction. Once again, I was taken aback at his reaction. Sean got so mad that we didn’t say hello to him that he told us to leave and not come back. They claim that we will receive a prorated refund. He clearly does not care about his members. This is a prime example of price gouging and Vaunt or the Home Run Inn Pizza Corp will not get another penny from us.
The membership price for the both of us was $135 per month. They have a couple of saunas (that fit about 4-5 people at once) but there are no other amenities. Every gym that I compared in the area is no more than $45 per month. What is he charging so much for? Do yourselves a favor and check out some of the other gyms in the area. We switched to Esporta. They charge $35 per month and have saunas, a pool, a large hot tub, and way more equipment. Also, if you have Blue Cross Blue Shied insurance, they offer a program that costs $25 per person, per month and you can enroll to as many select gyms as you’d like nationwide. Esporta, Planet Fitness, and Anytime Fitness are a few that are part of that program.
Fly into Midway airport a lot for work and I’m disappointed in myself for not finding this place sooner! Clean gym with a lot of equipment to work with. Lucas was awesome. Definitely will be back on future trips.
